Learn from the master himself

Although Roy is best known for painting wildlife in oil, acrylics, pastels and pencil, he has a wide knowledge of other media including watercolour and gouache. The principles and techniques he teaches can be applied to any form of subject matter, in any style.

Roy Chaffin's 'Brush with the Wild'.
The production of the first of Roy’s long-awaited series of teaching videos (also available as DVDs) is complete

The series is called “A Brush with the Wild”, and each programme is divided into sections.

Volume 1 includes; ‘Chapters’ on
‘Painting in Layers’, ‘Choosing and Using Brushes’ and ‘Painting Fur’
It is nearly 2 hours long stuffed full with Roy’s tips and hints and although based around the painting of a snow leopard, most of the information given can be applied to any subject. (Except perhaps painting fur!)

Useful to all artists - the brushes section for example covers all media including watercolour - it will most interest those working in acrylics or oils.

The video or DVD retails at Ł29.99. Orders can be placed through the studio where the same price includes post and packing. We accept Visa and Mastercard as well as cheques!

INDIVIDUAL TUITION

Tuition is arranged by appointment. Roy has found that the best use of his time is made by viewing examples of artists work and tailoring each session to develop an individual artist's own particular talents. By working through any problem in a positive and practical way, more effective and permanent results are achieved.

WEEKEND COURSES AT THE STUDIO

From time to time we are delighted to be able to offer artists the opportunity of taking part in one of Roy's exciting 'teaching weekends', when he shares with them his skills and 'tricks of the trade'

The pleasant mix of illustrated talks, tuition and practical sessions will develop your skills, whether you are a complete beginner or a more accomplished artist. Probably the most comprehensive painting course of it's kind, it can be as intensive as you choose to make it, but it is always enjoyable as well as stimulating.

With a maximum of eight guests, there is lots of individual attention, and opportunities to experience for yourself ways of overcoming some of the problems of working with live animals as subjects.

TALKS, DEMONSTRATIONS and WORKSHOPS

Roy does not normally take bookings for demonstrations to Art Societies, but does give a limited number of talks and lectures to larger audiences at selected venues, and tutors occasional workshops.
