Painting
started as a hobby in
California
. After
taking Decorative Art classes, I discovered a watercolour with Trevor
Bennett. We painted in her studio and in desert locations. I returned to
England
and found
watercolour the ideal medium with small children around. During six years
in
Germany
, I had
two one-man shows and some commissions. We moved to Washington DC and with
the children at school I had time for classes, initially in Oriental Art
and then with one of Washington’s new and exciting watercolorists, David
Daniels, who also taught at the Smithsonian.
My excitement with colour and nature evolved. We returned to the
UK
in 1996.
I have since exhibited with The Royal Institute of Watercolours, The
Wildlife Art Society and as a finalist in PAWS for four years (winning
overall in 2001). I am an elected member of the Society of Women Artists
and the Armed Forces Art Society, which exhibits at the Mall Galleries, I
was selected to hang at the Laing Exhibition.
I
paint with a group at
West
Wycombe
, who have
a very successful annual show. I
am currently teaching watercolour classes with Buckinghamshire Adult
Learning and workshops at the
Queens
Park
Centre.
