Denise is a self-taught artist born in Manchester now living in North Yorkshire .  

Her interest in art started while at primary school drawing and painting animals, many of her ideas taken from studying wildlife magazines.  

In 1992 and with a true love of animals and being influenced by the marvellous natural world she started painting wildlife and pet portraits using watercolours, pen & ink or pastels.  

She carries out volunteer work for the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust surveying for otters on the River Swale, this being her favourite animal to paint.  

She has been a finalist every year since 1998, winning ‘The Joyce Chaffin Memorial Scroll’ in 2000.  

Each artist has also been sent a Certificate.
